The news log

Safety incidents at Superchargers that made the news — shootings, arson, cable theft, vandalism. A quiet stall is not a promise, and a headline is not the whole lot. Each card names its source.

  1. Cable theftSeptember 26, 2026 · Lucas, Victoria

Cables cut at Coltman Plaza and across Ballarat

The Courier reported that on September 26, 2026, charging cables were cut at Tesla sites around Ballarat, including all 20 stalls at Coltman Plaza in Lucas — some installed the week before — and six at the Wendouree Homemaker Centre. Copper theft was the suspected motive. A driver who arrived that night found the Lucas yard already destroyed. Repairs were underway by Monday.

  2. Cable theftSeptember 4, 2026 · Yuba City, California

Thirteen cords taken at New Earth Market

FOX40 reported that Yuba City police announced three arrests after cords were cut at the New Earth Market Supercharger, 1475 Tharp Road. Nine cords were taken in a theft reported September 4, 2026, about $400 each, and four more had been taken from the same stalls on August 31. Officers found stripped copper in a Subaru Outback after reviewing surveillance.

  3. ShootingAugust 1, 2026 · Twin Falls, Idaho

Mass shooting reached the Visitor Center Supercharger

On August 1, 2026 a mass shooting began at the In-N-Out on Blue Lakes Boulevard North and moved north to the Tesla Supercharger in the Twin Falls Visitor Center lot. KTVB's police timeline says the shooter fired into two Teslas there. Dale Schultz was killed, his passenger was wounded, and another person in a Tesla was shot. Three people were killed in the attack overall, not counting the shooter. This was not a pattern of theft at the stalls.

  4. VandalismJune 2026 · West Gosford, NSW

Cables sliced and left at West Gosford

Coverage of the later Ballarat raids noted that in June 2026 vandals sliced charging cables at Tesla Superchargers in West Gosford and left the cables behind, unlike a straightforward copper haul. This pin is the Manns Road site. The exact day was not given.

  5. ArsonApril 8, 2025 · Lacey, Washington

Fire damage at the South Sound Center Supercharger

About 1:34 a.m. on April 8, 2025, Lacey police took calls about a loud noise at the Supercharger by the Target on Sleater Kinney Road. The Verge reported the scene was investigated as possible explosion damage and malicious mischief, with the FBI involved. The FBI later released video of a masked man sought in an arson at the South Sound Center site and said he might have been hurt by the blast.

  6. Cable theftWeekend of April 5, 2025 · Sunnyvale, California

Eight cables cut at the McKinley Target

KRON4 reported that eight of ten cables at the Target Supercharger, 298 West McKinley Avenue, were cut and stolen over the weekend before April 7, 2025. Police treated it as theft. Tesla had repaired the stalls by the time a crew arrived that afternoon.

  7. ArsonMarch 7, 2025 · North Charleston, South Carolina

Molotovs thrown at the Tanger Outlets stalls

Federal prosecutors charged Daniel Clarke-Pounder, 24, after a March 7, 2025 attack on the Supercharger by the Mellow Mushroom at Tanger Outlets. FITSNews reported he spray-painted the area and threw molotov cocktails, setting several stalls on fire, and caught himself on fire while throwing them.

  8. Cable theftMay 2024 · Vallejo, California

Cables slashed beside the Vallejo Target

The same April 2025 KRON4 report described an earlier theft at a Vallejo Supercharger next to a Target: cables slashed in May 2024, with video that circulated widely. The day was not stated. This pin is the Admiral Callaghan Lane site.

  9. ShootingMay 3, 2023 · Edgewater, Colorado

Fatal shooting in the Edgewater Public Market lot

Jefferson County authorities said Jeremy Alan Smith shot and killed Adam Fresquez on May 3, 2023, after a road-rage confrontation. Both men were in Teslas and had pulled into the Supercharger in the Edgewater Public Market parking lot, by the Shake Shack. Smith was later charged with second-degree murder and manslaughter. It was a dispute between two drivers, not a string of lot robberies — and it is still the thing to know before you stop.

Wattfolk is an independent field guide, not Tesla. Tesla's own site says 80,000+ Superchargers worldwide. The pins here are the open sites in the supercharge.info directory of that network, with stall counts from the same list. A Glow is a first look or a traveler score. Other pins show a paper score: the citywide crime rate, plus any verified news at that exact site. A blank 60 means neither was on file. It is not a review of the lot. Crime figures are citywide rates, not the parking lot. The news log is reported incidents, not a complete record.
